Wondering what a denture can do for you?

Partial dentures

Dentures Restore Your Ability to Eat, Speak, and Smile with Confidence

Turn Back the Clock

Dentures can improve the appearance of sunken cheeks and puckered lips, taking years off your appearance.

Enhance Your Quality of Life

A set of dentures can restore your ability to chew and speak properly. Having a fully functional smile can dramatically improve your quality of life.

The Benefits of Implants

Implant-supported dentures provide many unique benefits for qualifying patients. Dental implants can optimize the stability of dentures and prevent jawbone recession.

Tooth Loss Is a Common Concern for Many Patients

How do I know if dentures are right for me?

We Can Assess Your Candidacy during a Dentures Consultation

Partial Dentures

If you are missing several teeth, partial dentures may be right for you. Consisting of false teeth, an acrylic base, and small hooks, partial dentures fit between remaining teeth to restore the function and appearance of your smile.

Full Dentures

If you are missing most or all of your teeth, full dentures can replace an entire arch. Also called complete dentures, these restorations fit over the top of your gums to restore your smile.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Dental implants offer advanced stability for both partial and full dentures. However, implants have additional candidacy requirements, including sufficient jawbone tissue.

What can I expect during treatment?

Traditional and Implant-Supported Dentures

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are removable and can replace some or all of the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both. They are held in place with a very mild dental adhesive. While they can restore aesthetics and some degree of chewing ability and enunciation, traditional dentures remain able to shift out of place when eating or speaking. Meanwhile, because the jaw will recede and change shape in the absence of tooth roots, traditional dentures will need to be periodically adjusted to accommodate these changes and maintain a comfortable fit. Implant-supported dentures eliminate these issues.

Dr. Ahlbrecht can provide the advanced treatment necessary to rebuild your smile and help you start enjoying life to the fullest.

Implant-supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are attached to dental implants, which are titanium posts surgically embedded in the jawbone to replace tooth roots. Because they are anchored directly to the jawbone, they provide more function, comfort, and stability than traditional dentures. To qualify for dental implants, you must have sufficient jawbone tissue. If you have delayed addressing missing teeth, you may have experienced some jaw atrophy. If Dr. Ahlbrecht determines that you do not have sufficient jawbone tissue, you can elect to undergo a bone grafting procedure to replace lost tissue, restoring your candidacy. Once you have received implants, the devices will actually halt and, to a degree, reverse jawbone atrophy.

implant dentures

Implant dentures are anchored directly to the jawbone, just like natural teeth.

Which Type of Denture is Right for Me?

There are many factors to consider when choosing dentures. While implant dentures provide a wealth of unique benefits that traditional dentures do not, they are not always the best choice for every patient. For example, patients with diabetes or significant immune deficiencies may not be able to safely undergo implant surgery. Candidates who smoke must also be willing to cease the habit for good, since nicotine compromises the ability of the bones to properly heal, which is crucial to the success of dental implants.

Dr. Ahlbrecht is committed to helping each patient experience the best possible long-term benefits of every treatment he provides at our Indianapolis office. During your consultation, you can expect that he will assess your medical history, the current state of your smile, and your goals to recommend a solution that will benefit you for many years to come.
